WordPress is a Content Management System (CMS) that allows groups to easily maintain their websites while adhering to York's templates. It also enables groups with little HTML background to maintain websites using a WYSIWYG ('What You See Is What You Get') editor. This means that your group is able to focus on creating quality content for your site rather than worry about how to maintain its code.
There are multiple advantages to using WordPress to maintain your website. WordPress:
- uses a simple interface that’s easy to learn;
- grants access via Passport York from anywhere with an internet connection;
- offers various levels of access; and
- updates are handled centrally so you don’t need to worry about them.
With WordPress, you can focus your minimal resources on your content rather than on maintaining the same template items as other departments across the university.
